Sketch #3 - Winners!

We didn't have a lot of challenge participants this month, but that's okay because the ones who played played often! LOL

The "Best in Show" grand prize winner this month is Michelle, for THIS gnome card. Congratulations Michelle! I really loved how you paired all the earthy elements in the card, because when I think of gnomes (which I'll admit I don't do often!), I think of bark and leaves and dirt. Now that I think of it, that also makes me think of my laundry problems. Michelle's card used the Hambo mushrooms, and acorn with the gnome image -- which she won from one of our "One and Done" auctions -- for a perfect little woodland layout. Michelle will win a package of rubber stamps, plus a few little extras, for her prize. Email me Michelle, and I'll give you the deets.

The second prize goes to Creepy Glowbugg who also had a couple of fun entries. I especially liked the Cool Cat and his choice of beverages. :) The second prize winner gets her choice of one of our digital images. Just let me know which one you choose Gloria, and I'll email it to ya.

We'd normally follow up with a new sketch for the month, but since December is such a busy month for everyone, we've decided to take the month off. We'll return on Dec. 30 with a brand new sketch to kick off the new year, so be sure to check back.

Hogs & Sketches - Challenge #3

Welcome to the November "Hogs & Sketches" Challenge -- number 3 if you're counting! This month, Melissa presents us with this sketch:

As always, the sketch is a starting point -- you're free to take some liberties with it, as long as the basic layout remains the same. For instance, you can put the sentiment wherever you'd like, or you can flip the layout, etc.

Here's a quick review of the rules:

1. You have to use at least one Hambo image -- rubber or digital -- somewhere on the card.

The end. Really! It's that simple! And (heaven forbid!) you don't own any Hambo stamps, there are a couple of free digi downloads available. Follow the links at the top of THIS PAGE to download them.

Here are some of the great interpretations the design team ladies came up with. First, Judy causes a scream with her ghost card:

And even though Halloween is almost come and gone, autumn will still be here for a while, so here's another take on the sketch by Melissa:

Here, Jane shows us that skeletons don't have to be scary ... even if spiders DO! (I hate 'em!)

And finally MacKenzie demonstrates the birds and the bees -- or at least the bees, here:

Wait until she features this one on her blog, because you've got to see the matching INSIDE of this card -- CLEVER!

I've had my own card in mind, but have been bed-ridden most of the week, so it will have to continue to percolate until I feel up to stamping again. In the meantime, take a crack at the sketch yourself!

Sketch #2 - Winners!

There were some fun entries for the October sketch, and appropriately enough, most of the cards were Halloween themed. Thanks to everyone who played along -- even multiple times! (Which of course is not only allowed, but encouraged!)

Before we get to the winners, let's review how the winners (that's right, "winners" plural!) are chosen: Tim & I will choose our "favorite" project, one that especially stands out among all the entries, and that person will win some free Hambo rubbah! (Mounted or unmounted, winner's choice.) This is completely subjective, and will be whichever card catches our eye, whether we judge it the "best" or most clever, or most original, or most funny ... you get the idea. The second winner will be decided by random drawing of all the remaining entries. This winner will receive his/her choice of one free Hambo digital image.

So without further delay, this month's winners:

Congratulations to "Glowbugg" for her more-cute-than-creepy skeleton creation! Glowbugg, if you'll email me, I'll give you the deets on the rubber that you win.

And the winner of the free digital is Anita! Anita played twice this month, so her name was entered twice in the drawing, which significantly improved her odds of winning! :) By the way Anita, Tim & I both LOVED your card where you substituted a pumpkin for the dreidel -- so clever! You can choose any digital image from our website and we'll email it to you.

I think we need to come up with cute names for our awards! Maybe the "Golden Piglet" for best of show or something?? If you have any ideas, feel free to post them in the comments section.

We interrupt this challenge...

As a matter of housekeeping, we're going to re-order the way we post the "Hogs & Sketches" challenges. As the rules of the last challenge state, all participants need to post their links by midnight on the 29th of each month. The next day - the 30th of every month - we'll first post the winners of the previous month's challenge, followed by another post on that same day revealing the new sketch challenge. This way the new challenge will stay at the top of the blog so anyone surfing by will be sure to see it.

Don't forget that we'll be awarding 2 prizes each challenge: one will go to the card/project that is most eye-catching or original, as chosen by Tim & myself, and the other prize will go to one of the challenge participants, decided by random draw.

Drumroll....Please

The first ever Hambo Sketch Challenge is officially in the books. Who won you say?

Well, first I have to tell a quick story of how the winner was chosen...

I diligently wrote down all of the names on pieces of paper, folded them into small squares and tossed them on the table in front of my cat Eleanor. She promptly swatted the folded pieces of paper (a.k.a. cat toys in her mind) and picked one up in her mouth....

Welcome to the "Hogs and Sketches" Challenge # 2!

Welcome to our new digs! This is now the official site for the monthly "Hogs and Sketches" challenge hosted by Hambo Stamps.

We hope you enjoy playing along with our second sketch challenge... Monica and Tim have upped the ante for this one! We will be giving away TWO prizes...that's right...TWO!!

One winner will be chosen by Tim and Monica...they will pick their favorite card and shower you with goodies from Hambo. The second winner will be chosen at random from a drawing. The more entries you submit...the better your chances are of winning!

What are the rules??? (We have to have SOME rules!)
• Rule # 1: You must use at least one Hambo stamp on your card.
• Rule # 2: Please refer to Rule #1

It's THAT simple. Don't have any Hambo stamps yet? (How can you not L•O•V•E• their stamps?) You can use one of their free digi-stamps to make a card. Once you try their stamps/digis, you will want them all!
